Session 8 (October 1) 

1.      Abject: /ˈæb.dʒekt/ Adjective.

The state of being extremely unhappy, poor, unsuccessful, etc.

E.g. They live in abject conditions of poverty.

2.      Ageless: /ˈeɪdʒ.ləs/ Adjective.

Someone or something that is ageless never looks older.

E.g. She is forty years old, but she seems a little bit ageless.

3.      Bland: /blænd/ Adjective.

Not having a strong taste or character or not showing any interest or energy.

E.g. I tasted the cake, and it was a little bit bland.

4.      Effable: / ef′ə bəl/ Adjective.

Able to be described in words.

E.g. She was partially effable after the situation ends.

5.      Hush: /hʌʃ/ Noun.

A sudden, calm silence.

E.g. The hush in the room causes scare.

6.      Importune: /ˌɪm.pɔːrˈtuːn/ Verb.

To make repeated, forceful requests for something, usually in a way that is annoying or causing slight problems.

E.g. Those girls importune the class.

7.      Meldrop: /ˈmɛldrɒp/ Noun.

A drop of mucus at the nose, whether produced by cold or otherwise.

E.g. Her meldrop shows that she is going to suffer flu.

8.      Nauseant: /ˈnɔːsɪənt/ Noun.

A substance or agent which produces nausea.

E.g. Nauseant is known for being a horrible feeling that a person can suffer.

9.      Reprobate: /ˈrep.rə.beɪt/ Noun.

A person of bad character and habits.

E.g. You acted as a reprobate yesterday at night.

10.  Risible: /ˈrɪzəbəl/ Adjective.

So lacking in quality or usefulness that it deserves to be laughed at.

E.g. The movie was too much risible, so we are not going to watch it again.

11.  Saucy: /ˈsɑː.si/ Adjective.

Rude and showing no respect.

E.g. You were saucy with your parents this morning.

12.  Slush: /slʌʃ/ Noun.

Snow that is lying on the ground and has started to melt.

E.g. Her clothes had slush when she enters the house.

13.  Tight: /taɪt/ adjective, adverb.

(Held or kept together) Firmly or closely.

E.g. The box was completely tight.

14.  Virtue: /ˈvɝː.tʃuː/ Noun.

A good moral quality in a person, or the general quality of being morally good.

E.g. It is nice to have virtue.

15.  Xenology: /zɛˈnɑlədʒi/

The scientific study of alien biology, cultures, etc.

E.g. It is strange to be involved in xenology.
